ATLANTA- The pitching duet of Kirsten Fleet and Payton List took care of business again, as the two shut down the Panthers offense while the Dukes' bats powered past Georgia State by a score of 6-2 in game one and 8-1 in the series finale on Saturday at the Bob E. Heck Softball Complex.
Fleet and List who combined for the JMU (15-20, 3-9 SBC) victory on Friday, both threw complete games in Saturday's doubleheader and allowed a combined three runs in the 14 innings, while striking out 10 Panthers.
After Georgia State (10-29, 2-10 SBC) knotted the ballgame up at two apiece in game one, The Dukes loaded the bases in the top of the seventh for Morgan Mesaros, who drilled her first-career triple to left center which cleared the bases, putting JMU ahead 5-2.
Jasmine Hall and Reed Butler had four hits each between the two contests, with Butler earning her third three-hit game of 2025. Hall had four RBI as well, with three in the series finale including two on her third double of the year.
At the plate, List sent her tenth home run of the year flying over the left center field fence, to then give the Dukes a 2-0 lead. Her double-digit home run total is a new single-season career high, besting her 2024 season total of nine.
Raegan Wall had JMU's second triple of the afternoon and the first of her collegiate career, a shot to left center which scored Legzdin in the seventh inning of game two.
For Georgia State, Ashton Schroyer doubled twice in game one, which is her single-game career high. Ryleigh Garrett was responsible for the lone Panthers' run in game two, with a single in the third inning, along with being awarded one of the two walks given up by the Dukes' pitching staff.
