COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second consecutive week, James Madison field hockey is ranked in the
Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches Poll, coming in at No. 19 as announced by the organization on Sept. 30.
JMU (7-4, 2-1 MAC) tallied 27 points to tie for 19th with Saint Joseph's (6-4, 1-0 A10). The Dukes were No. 18 in the nation before splitting games last weekend with a 5-0 win over Longwood (Sept. 26) and a 5-4 overtime heartbreaker at the hands of App State (Sept. 28).
The Mountaineers, previously unranked, jumped to 17th and sit at 8-1 (3-0 MAC). App State and the Dukes join No. 14 Massachusetts (9-1, 2-1 MAC) as the only ranked programs representing the Mid-American Conference.
Individually,
Alice Roeper paces the JMU offense in goals (10), assists (5) and points (25), and is coming off a hat trick against the Mountaineers. On the defensive end,
Molly Schreiner boasts a .744 save percentage and has made double-digit saves in two of her last three games.
The Dukes begin a three-game homestand when they host Ball State on Friday (Oct. 3) before welcoming the ninth-ranked Duke on Sunday (Oct. 5).
