HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison women's basketball is set for a rematch with Marshall when the two teams face off in Harrisonburg on Thursday. Action inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center is slated for 6 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.
LAST TIME VS. THE THUNDERING HERD
- Marshall made 13-of-30 (.433) from three and scored 27 points off 20 James Madison turnovers to top the Dukes in overtime, 83-74, in Sun Belt Conference women's basketball action at inside the Cam Henderson Center on Dec. 20.
- Leading 58-51 heading into the final period, JMU shot 3-of-13 (.231) from the field in the fourth, connecting on just two shots in the final 7:16 of regulation.
- The Thundering Herd hit every shot in overtime, going 7-for-7 from the line, 4-for-4 from the floor and 1-for-1 from three-point range. Meanwhile, JMU made 1-of-11 (.091) down the stretch in the extra period.
THE DUKES VS. THE SUN BELT
- James Madison holds a 102-72 (.586) record against current Sun Belt Conference foes and is 53-15 (.779) since joining the league in 2022.
- Moreover, the Dukes are 47-13 (.783) in regular-season league matchups and had won 21 consecutive regular-season tilts prior to their 83-74 overtime loss to Marshall on Dec. 20, 2025.
- James Madison has not lost a home game against a Sun Belt foe since dropping a 73-62 result to Georgia State on Feb. 15, 2024.

- Playing her fifth season of collegiate basketball, Peyton McDaniel has placed herself in the top 15 of career rankings in eight categories: three-pointers (2nd - 303), three-point attempts (2nd - 868), three-point attempts per game (3rd - 6.34), field goals made (4th - 712), points (4th - 1,990), field goal attempts (5th - 1,650), games played (T-6th - 137), and rebounds (14th - 895).
MILESTONE TRACKER
- With 1,990 career points, Peyton McDaniel is 10 points away from becoming the fourth Duke to reach 2,000-plus career points.
- If McDaniel maintains her career scoring average of 14.5 ppg, she'll reach the 2,000-point plateau against Marshall on Jan. 15.
- For Ashanti Barnes, with 928 points across her time at Old Dominion (2021-22) and JMU (2023-Present), she is 72 shy of reaching 1,000 in her Division I Career.
- If Barnes averages 11.0 ppg, she can reach 1,000 career points in seven games.
- The achievement would make Barnes the 35th member of the program's 1,000-point club.
NCAA RANKING SUMMARY
- Through Jan. 12 games, JMU owns three top-50 marks nationally: rebounds per game (T-30th - 42.67), defensive rebounds per game (38th - 28.8), and rebound margin (41st - +7.6).
- Individually, Brianan McLeod is tied for 21st in blocks (33), Ashanti Barnes is 22nd in rebounds (168), and Peyton McDaniel is 25th in points (322),
HOME SWEET HOME
- The Dukes went 16-2 inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center in 2024-25, marking consecutive seasons with at least a dozen home victories. Additionally, the 16 home wins were the most by the program since the 2018-19 season when James Madison produced an 18-1 record at the Convocation Center.
- JMU is 62-23 (.729) since the Atlantic Union Bank Center opened at the start of the 2020-21 season.
