WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – James Madison took down a former conference foe for the second straight day, cruising to a 6-1 victory against Drexel on Saturday afternoon at the Mackesy Tennis Center.

The Dukes (8-6) won for the fifth straight outing, using the doubles point and five singles wins to down the Dragons (5-3). JMU also improved to 4-1 all-time against Drexel, as Saturday's matchup was the first meeting in nearly a decade between the teams.

The trio of
Ariel Avidan,
Brooklyn Hoffmann and
Sophie Williams each went 2-0 on the day, capturing wins in both doubles and singles. Also earning singles triumphs were
Corinna Rietmann and
Reka Matko. It was the fifth straight singles win for both Avidan and Hoffmann.

JMU opened with a pair of doubles wins to grab the early lead. The tandem of Avidan and
Daria Munteanu took down Rebecca Fiedler and Anastasia Kavounov by a 6-2 score on court two for the early advantage. The Dukes claimed the doubles point on court one, where Hoffmann and Williams upended Adva Dabah and Lorie Lemongo, at 7-5. Hoffmann and Williams have now won five straight doubles matches.

In singles play, JMU took set leads on five of six courts. Avidan doubled the lead to 2-0 on court three, as she conceded just one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win against Dabah. The lead grew to 3-0 on court four, where Williams earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Fiedler.

Hoffmann clinched the match for the Dukes on court two, winning by a 6-0, 7-5 count against Kavounov.

The lead stretched to 6-0 after wins on courts five and six. Rietmann defeated Sofiya Snitko, 6-2, 6-4, before Matko registered a 6-2, 6-3 win versus Christine Ma Fourie. In the final bout, Munteanu split sets with Lemongo on court one before dropping a tough 10-7 decision in a third-set super tiebreaker. Lemongo took the match by scores of 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (7).
