HARRISONBURG, Va. – The James Madison men's basketball team announced its first four transfer portal additions for its 2026-27 roster on Wednesday afternoon.
Head Coach
Preston Spradlin announced the signings of Jacob Hogarth (Gardner-Webb), Gage Lattimore (NC Central), Garrett Sundra (Notre Dame), and KJ Windham (Northwestern). All four players will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with JMU.
Jacob Hogarth | 6-9 | 210 | Junior | Brooklyn, N.Y. | South Kent High School (Gardner-Webb, Iona)
2025-26 (Gardner-Webb):
- Played in 28 games, starting 25 for the Runnin' Bulldogs
- Averaged 11.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game
- Shot 52.3 percent from the field (113-of-216) and 72.6 percent from the free-throw line (77-of-106)
- Scored in double figures 18 times; two games with 20 or more points.
- Season-high 23 points and corralled 23 rebounds against Brevard on Dec. 12, finishing 10-of-14 from the field
- Recorded 20 points versus Winthrop on Feb. 12
- 10 games with double-digit rebounds
2024-25 (Iona):
- Appeared in 18 games – including one start - for Iona, averaging 1.1 points and 1.1 rebounds
- Had a season-high 18 minutes against Rice, scoring two points
- Season-high five rebounds against Cornell on Nov. 25, 2024
- Enrolled early at Iona in the Fall of 2023
High School:
- Played his final two high school seasons at South Kent School in Danbury, Conn.
- Helped lead South Kent to the NEPSAC Class III Championship in 2022-23
- Ranked No. 6 in Connecticut and No. 20 in New England by the New England Recruiting Report
- Transferred to South Kent after playing the first two high school seasons at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, N.Y.
"Jacob brings a different level of physicality and athleticism to our roster that will pair well with the playmaking guards we are securing," Spradlin said. "He had an efficient season that we are excited to build on as he transitions to a program that has high expectations. He has the mobility to impact the game both inside and out."
Gage Lattimore | 6-2 | 190 | Junior | Greensboro, N.C. | Ben L. Smith (Seton Hill, N.C. Central)
Lattimore joins JMU with two years of eligibility remaining. He spent the first season of his career at Division II Seton Hill (2024-25) before transferring to N.C. Central (2025-26), where he started 28 games and averaged 16.6 points per game.
NC Central (2025-26):
- 2026 All-MEAC First Team
- 2026 MEAC All-Tournament Team
- 2025-26 BOXTOROW HBCU All-American First Team
- Played and started 28 games
- Averaged 16.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists for the Eagles
- 10 games with 20+ points, including 29 at JMU on Dec. 3
- Made 83 threes on 39.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
- Career high 38 points against Bluefield State on Nov. 12
2024-25 (Seton Hill):
- Appeared in 27 games, making 15 starts
- Averaged 10.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists
- Scored season high 21 points at Millersville on Dec. 6.
"Gage first burst onto our radar when he led his NCCU team into the AUBC and he scored 29 points against us," Spradlin said. "We had incredible respect for his game and knew that he would be a top target for us should he decide to look for a new opportunity. He is a gym rat who thrives in competition and will allow us to play with multiple playmaking guards on the court at one time."
Garrett Sundra | 6-11 | 230 | Forward | Ashburn, Va. | Paul VI Catholic (Notre Dame)
Sundra joins JMU with two seasons of eligibility remaining after spending the first two years of his career at Notre Dame. The Ashburn, Va., native played 52 games, including 16 starts, over his two seasons with the Fighting Irish, averaging 3.0 points and 2.5 rebounds.
Notre Dame (2025-26):
- Appeared in all 31 games, making 16 starts and averaging 17.9 minutes
- Averaged 3.5 points per game on 44.4 percent shooting.
- Shot 16-for-52 (30.8%) from three-point range.
- Season-high nine points against Detroit Mercy (Nov. 7).
Notre Dame (2024-25):
- Saw action in 21 games, averaging 9.3 minutes.
- Averaged 2.3 points and 1.5 rebounds on 53.3% shooting.
- Scored a career-high 11 points vs. SMU (Feb. 19)
- Grabbed a career-high eight rebounds vs. Le Moyne (12/22).
High School:
- 131st-ranked prospect by 247Sports.
- Sixth-ranked prospect in the state of Virginia by ESPN.
- Helped Paul VI Catholic (VA) go 31-4 and win the 2023 VISAA State Championship
"It is always nice when you can welcome home a VA native and especially one who has the talent that Garrett does," Spradlin said. "Playing for a prominent high school program in Paul VI and then competing in the ACC gives him valuable experience that will transition well to the Sun Belt. His size and skillset will allow him to impact the game in a variety of ways on both sides of the ball."
K.J. Windham | 6-3 | 190 | Junior | Indianapolis, Ind. | Ben Davis (Northwestern)
Windham joins the Dukes with two years of eligibility remaining. The Indianapolis, Ind., native spent the first two seasons of his career at Northwestern, playing in 39 games and averaging 5.0 points.
Northwestern (2025-26):
- Played in 14 games, averaging 12.4 minutes.
- Averaged 3.5 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists
- Season highs of 11 points, seven rebounds, and a block against Mercyhurst on Nov. 3.
- Shot 33.3 percent (12-for-36) from three-point range.
Northwestern (2024-25):
- Started in four of 29 games played, averaging 16.8 minutes.
- Averages of 5.6 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.
- Scored 20+ points twice, reached double figures seven times.
- Tallied a career-high 20 points against Iowa on Feb. 28.
- Recorded seven assists and three steals at Minnesota on Feb. 25.
- Recorded 14 points and five assists against Wisconsin in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament on March 13.
High School:
- Rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports.
- Ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Indiana, No. 18 combo guard in the nation.
- Won 4A State Championship as a junior at Ben Davis High School (Ind.).
