HARRISONBURG, Va. – The James Madison men's basketball program and Head Coach
Preston Spradlin announced the addition of freshman guard Ashton "Ace" Meeks on Thursday afternoon.
Meeks is a 6-0 guard from Bowie, Md. He attended DeMatha High School in Hyattsville, Md., and will have four years of eligibility at JMU. Per 247Sports, he is the third-highest- ranked commit in program history.

- Finished his high school career with 1,729 points
- First Team All-Met, and All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) in back-to-back seasons
- Averaged 22 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.5 steals as a senior
- Four-year varsity contributor, first recruit for head coach Mike G. Jones in 2022
- As a sophomore, he led DeMatha to a double overtime victory to claim the 2024 Maryland Private High School State Championship on his way to being named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player
"Meeks comes in as a highly decorated player from the DMV," Spradlin said. "A scoring point guard who has competed at the highest level of prep basketball, he will be the kind of guard that our fans are accustomed to seeing here at JMU. His quickness, shot-making ability, and competitiveness were qualities that drew our staff to him last summer, and we are excited to add him to our team."
