Our office is predominantly "behind the scenes" and handles the planning and execution (w/other departments in Athletics) of events. Our main responsibility is management of athletic events and providing operational support of special events on campus. Event Management Practicum
Spring Semester (up to 4 positions)
- Assist Game Manager at assigned athletic and special events- Ensuring facility is properly set up according to sport specifications & operations plan with consideration to ingress/egress, crowd control, accessibility (i.e. ADA), etc; break down of equipment; assist in game day operation and problem solving as necessary; responsibility for adherence to rules and regulations governing the University, Sun Belt and NCAA.
- Supervise assigned events in athletic facilities.

Event Management Internship
Position Description
Spring Semester (2 positions)
- Game Manager for assigned sports (M & W Tennis) and events- Duties include development, implementation, & communication of operations plans to support groups/service providers; contacting visiting teams and officials prior to home events; training & coordinating support staff; ensuring facility is properly set up according to sport specifications & operations plan with consideration to ingress/egress, crowd control, accessibility (i.e. ADA), etc; break down of equipment; supervision of game day operation and problem solving as necessary; responsibility for adherence to rules and regulations governing the University, Sun Belt and NCAA.
- Assist in management and operations of Home M/W Basketball Games with an emphasis on Stadium & Arena Operations including but not limited to: securing, training, scheduling, and game day oversight of Guest Services, student groups, game operations assistants; set up, break down of gate/bag check areas, signage, fan amenities; supervision of assigned areas within & around stadium and arena on game day.
- Assist with day to day operations of athletic facilities including but not limited to: daily inspection of facilities; reporting & following up on damages and incidents that occur; enforce observance of facility operating policies and procedures.
- Plan, facilitate, & supervise assigned events in athletic facilities.
- Assist in the scheduling of practice and game times.

- Assist Game Manager for Harrisonburg Turks - Ensuring facility is properly set up according to sport specifications & operations plan with consideration to ingress/egress, crowd control, accessibility (i.e. ADA), etc; break down of equipment; assist in game day operation and problem solving as necessary; responsibility for adherence to rules and regulations governing the University and Valley League Baseball.
- Supervise assigned events in athletic facilities.
- Participate in some administrative duties

Summer (1 position)
- Game Manager for Harrisonburg Turks Summer League team - Duties include development, implementation, & communication of operations plans to support groups/service providers; contacting visiting teams and officials prior to home events; training & coordinating support staff; ensuring facility is properly set up according to sport specifications & operations plan with consideration to ingress/egress, crowd control, accessibility (i.e. ADA), etc; break down of equipment; supervision of game day operation and problem solving as necessary; responsibility for adherence to rules and regulations governing the University, Sun Belt, Valley League Baseball and NCAA. Internship lasts through conclusion of Harrisonburg Turks season.
- Assist in management and operations of postseason events hosted by JMU with an emphasis on Stadium & Arena Operations including but not limited to: securing, training, scheduling, and game day oversight of RMC Event Staff, student groups, game operations assistants; set up, break down of gate/bag check areas, signage, fan amenities; supervision of assigned areas within & around stadium and arena on game day.
