JMU Athletic Director Scholar-Athlete... seventh in the CAA in points, 10th in points per game, tied for sixth with teammate Melissa Stefaniak in assists and assists per game... tied for first in conference in game-winning goals... 10th in JMU history in points, 16th in goals, tied for eighth in assists, and tied for third in game-winning goals... scored five game-winning goals during the season... finished the year with nine goals, 10 assists, and 28 points... scored the game-winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Virginia... recorded two goals and an assist in a 5-0 defeat at Delaware and another two goals and two assists in a 6-1 win over Towson earning her CAA Player of the Week and ECAC Division I Player of the Week honors... netted a goal in back to back victories over Hofstra and Villanova... added a goal in the 3-0 win over Old Dominion... recorded three assists against Northeastern in a 5-0 win.

As a sophomore: Started 22 of 23 matches, giving way to one of the seniors on senior day... second on the team in goals, tied for third in assists... had a goal and two assists in JMU’s opening weekend sweep of Kent State and Albany... scored four of her seven goals in consecutive matches against Albany, North Carolina, Ohio, and Michigan State... scored in JMU’s 3-2 overtime setback against Duke in the NCAA first round.
As a freshman: First Team All-CAA... VaSID Second Team All-state... CAA All-Rookie team... made career playing debut with two goals and an assist in the 3-0 season opener shutout against Kent State, earning CAA Co-Rookie of the Week Aug. 28... scored JMU's only goal in the overtime match against #5 Duke... CAA Co-Rookie of the Week on Oct. 10 for her unassisted game-winning goal against William and Mary in overtime... scored 10 goals and made seven assists this season... led team in points, tied for team lead in goals and second on team in assists... started in 16 of 18 games played.
High school: NFHCA All-America, all-state, all-region, all-group IV, All-Olympic American Conference as a junior. All-South Jersey and all-conference as a junior and senior. Philadelphia Inquirer and Camden Courier-Post Player of the Year as a senior. Team’s offensive MVP as a senior. Eastern won its sixth straight state championship in 2004, set a national record with 138 consecutive victories and had a record of 69-0-1 in her four-year career. The Vikings were ranked number one nationally 2002, 2003, 2004. Participated in the U.S. Field Hockey Assocation’s National Futures tournament as a sophomore and junior and in Junior Olympics two years.
Personal: Ashley Walls. Kinesiology major with a concentration in sports management and a minor in business. Her sisters Lauren and Melissa are juniors on the JMU field hockey team. Her high school coach, Danyle Hefferman Heilig (JMU '95), played on JMU's 1994 NCAA champion field hockey team, is co-holder of JMU's career assist record (36), was a two-time JMU lacrosse All-America and ranks among JMU's all-time lacrosse scorers.

Why did you choose JMU?
Because of the team and the atmosphere.
What is your major and why did you choose it?
Early childhood education because I have always wanted to be a teacher and work with younger kids.
What do you enjoy most about JMU field hockey?
My teammates and just playing the game.
What are your goals for this year?
To win CAA’S and to make it past the first round of NCAA’s. And to not break a finger.
What is your favorite pre-game music or ritual?
Just hanging out and listening to music.

My parents and my sisters.
