Jason Klinkradt joined the James Madison field hockey program on July 14, 2023.

In 2023, James Madison played in its final independent season, finishing 5-12. The Dukes lost eight games by a single goal, four games after scoring first and twice in overtime. Moreover, three of those one-goal losses have come against top-15 teams. JMU ended the season with a bang, defeating Queens (N.C.) 14-0, the most goals scored in a single game by a Division I team in 2023. Graduate student Morgan Merritt wrapped her career with NFHCA South Region Second Team honors.
Klinkradt comes to JMU with a wealth of coaching experience of over a decade with stops in Ireland and South Africa. Most recently, he was the Sports Coordinator and Head of Hockey at The Teresian School in Dublin, Ireland for two years, while also serving as the head coach for YMCA Club Dublin for the past nine years.

Prior to holding those positions, Klinkradt held various roles for the Irish Hockey Association such as assistant coach of Ireland's senior men's team, support coach for Ireland's senior women's team, and a lead performance analyst.

Klinkradt was also a head coach at the U21 level, mentoring Free State Province (South Africa) and Leinster Province (Ireland). During that time, his South African quad medaled three times, while his Irish team earned two medals.

The South African native also spent time with Hockey Ireland's U21 men's program as an assistant coach and performance analyst from 2016-2018. In 2014, he became the senior boys head coach and junior girls coach at Wesley College in Dublin. There, he helped produce international players at the U18 and U21 levels before leaving the position in 2020.

Klinkradt received a master's of science degree in sport performance analysis from the Institute of Technology, Carlow in 2020. He earned a Level 3 Coaching Certificate from the University of South Africa, as well as a High Performance Coaching Certificate, Level 2 Coaching Facilitator Certificate, and Coaching Education Certificate from the South African Hockey Association.
