Lauryn Kenon joined the JMU staff in June 2016 and currently provides day-to-day support and care for the field hockey team.
Kenon came to the Dukes after three years on staff at Stetson University. While with the Hatters, she worked with the football, women’s soccer, and women’s tennis teams coordinating care for student-athletes, including rehab care. Prior to Stetson, Kenon was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Georgia Southern University, providing primary medical coverage for football, softball, and swimming & diving. She also worked as an athletic trainer with the West Virginia Chaos (PDL Soccer), ESPN Wide World of Sports, and West Virginia University Instituted of Technology.
Kenon earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from Concord University in May 2010 before achieving her Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from Georgia Southern in May 2013. She has certifications and training's in Blood Flow Restriction, Dry Needling, Mental Health First Aid, LGBTQIA+ Safe Space Ally, PRI myokinematic restoration, and NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist training. Her areas of interest include concussion rehabilitation, load management during return to play.
She has also worked with Team USA U-22 Women’s National Field Hockey Team (2021) and published her thesis “
The Influence on the Initiation of a Graded Exercise Protocol on Dynamic Postural Stability Following a Concussion.”
