Chaz LaPoint was hired as a graduate assistant with the JMU football program prior to the 2022 season. He serves as a defensive graduate assistant, working primarily with the linebackers.
LaPoint joins the Dukes after spending three seasons at Missouri (2019-21), where he was a student assistant. He assisted with the Tigers’ defensive line for the 2019 and 2020 seasons, while transitioning to cornerbacks in 2021.
While in Columbia, he was part of two different coaching schemes and was a defensive signal caller on game days in his final season with the program.
LaPoint graduated from Mizzou in 2022 with a bachelor of science in parks, recreation and sport.
