Mason Collins is in his first season with the James Madison football program in 2026, as he serves as special assistant to the head coach and director of quality control.
Collings comes to Harrisonburg after being part of the football staff at his alma mater Florida since 2020.
Most recently, Collins was Billy Napier’s assistant to the Head Coach during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. In that role, he completed special projects for the head coach and managed the offensive support staff. He also oversaw practice and walkthrough script creations and distribution. Collins additionally created weekly scouting reports and managed cut ups and breakdown of opponents.
Prior to that, he was an offensive quality control coach with the wide receivers in 2022 and 2023. As an undergraduate student, Collins was a student assistant with the running backs (2021) and with both the offensive line and tight ends (2020-21). He additionally worked with the offensive line and returners over his final two seasons in Gainesville.
Collins graduated from Florida in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He also earned a graduate certificate from UF in sports event management.
