Sean Fisher is in his first season as an assistant coach with the James Madison University football team, coaching the tight ends.
Fisher spent the past two seasons on the staff at Ohio State, working with the defensive backs in 2013 and the offensive line in 2014, assisting Coach Ed Warinner. During his time at Ohio State, the Buckeyes went 26-3, winning the 2014 College Football Playoff National Championship, 2014 Consensus National Championship, 2015 Sugar Bowl Championship (CFP semifinal) and 2014 Big Ten Championship.
Prior to his time at Ohio State, Fisher served as quarterbacks coach at Plant High School in Tampa, Fla., for one season. He helped the Panthers to a 9-3 season and the program’s seventh consecutive district crown and playoff appearance. In 2011, he coached defensive backs at Armwood High School in Seffner, Fla. In that season, the Hawks finished 15-0 and ranked No. 2 in the nation by ESPN on their way to a Florida High School Athletic Association 6A state championship. In his first coaching job, he spent the 2008-10 seasons coaching quarterbacks at St. Petersburg High School in St. Petersburg, Fla., where the Green Devils reached the playoffs all three seasons while compiling a record of 28-6.
A native of Rootstown, Ohio, Fisher graduated in 2008 from Mount Union College with a bachelor’s degree in history. A four-year letterwinner for the Purple Raiders, he was part of two NCAA Division III National Championship teams in 2005 and 2006 as a quarterback.
