Ross Bares is in his first season with the James Madison football program in 2026, as he serves as Director of Scouting.
Bares joined the Dukes after spending four seasons at Florida (2022-25), where he was a player personnel assistant. While at UF under Billy Napier, he planned and organized assistant coaches on road recruiting calendar while managing a specific recruiting area nationally. He also served as an assistant to the head coach.
He followed Napier to Florida after a 2021 season at Louisiana, where he was a player personnel/recruiting intern.
Before UL, Bares had a brief stint as a scouting intern at Temple in the winter of 2021. Bares was also a data analyst at Tracking Football between the fall of 2020 and the spring of 2021. As a student, he attended the Phil Savage/Reese’s Senior Bowl Scout School.
As an undergraduate student at LSU, Bares was a player personnel student assistant for two seasons (2018-19).
Bares graduated from LSU in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management with a minor in business management.
