Vidit Vaghela was hired as an assistant coach with the James Madison men's tennis program in August 2024 and completed his first season on staff in 2024-25.
In his first season, he helped JMU to a 7-12 record and berth in the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
Vaghela, a former ITF Futures Tour competitor, joins the Dukes after spending the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at Campbell.
In his two seasons with the Camels, he helped the team to a 27-15 overall record and a Big South Conference regular-season title in the 2022-23 season. That included helping Benjamin Maes to a 27-6 singles record during that span, which included a win at nationally-ranked Wake Forest.
He developed and executed comprehensive practice plans for both team and individual sessions while emphasizing the strategic importance of doubles play to improve team performance.
While at Campbell, he served a stint at the tennis professional at New Haven Lawn Club in Connecticut, directing multiple adult and junior tennis clinics. He also managed the junior tennis program and oversaw league matches.
Vaghela joined the collegiate coaching ranks after coaching junior tennis players in Ahmedabad, India, which included coaching one player to a top-1,000 ITF Junior ranking after her first four tournaments and a pair of U-14 tournament finals with wins over India's top junior players.
From 2018 to 2020, Vaghela competed on the ITA Futures Tour, reaching a career-high world ranking of #1945. During that span he won three national men's titles.
Vaghela enjoyed a successful collegiate career at Buffalo (2016-18) and Monmouth (2014-16). He became the first year-end, nationally-ranked doubles pair in Buffalo history, ending the 2017-18 campaign ranked #64. He also ranked sixth in the ITA regional rankings, with key victories over four higher-ranked players on the list. In his season at Monmouth, he helped MU to its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship in 2016 and was a named All-MAAC each season.
As a junior, Vaghela won the 2014 U-18 national championship in India and held an ITF Juniors ranking of #481.
Vaghela graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in economics and also earned a Master of Business Administration from Campbell in May 2024.
