Joey Cutting currently works for athletics marketing as a graduate assistant. His duties involve working with JMU Athletics to generate increases in attendance, engagement and promotional incentives towards all JMU sports teams and fans.
Prior to JMU, Cutting was a corporate sponsorship/sales, development and fundraising intern with IMG Sports Marketing at UNC-Asheville. He was also a gameday media, promotions and fan engagement assistant as well as an athlete network social media and branding intern. His other employment includes being a marketing/branding intern and zip line tour guide at Navitat Canopy Adventures in Asheville, N.C.
Graduating with cum laude honors and being on the Dean’s List for six consecutive semesters, Cutting received a Bachelor of Science in marketing from UNC-Asheville in 2015. During his undergraduate career he was a four-year letterman for the school’s men’s soccer team and president of the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) from 2013-2015.  He was also one of 200 student-athletes across the United States selected to attend the NCAA career in sports forum at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis, Ind.
Cutting also received many awards during his time at UNC-Asheville, which included a Beta Gamma Sigma business honors society inductee, two-time recipient of UNC-Asheville’s bulldog service and leadership award, recipient of Bruce and Joyce Goforth athletic endowed scholarship, Sam Miller athletic endowed scholarship and Marcia Eckley year out scholarship.
Cutting’s family resides in Waynesville, N.C., and he loves to work out, fish, hike and listen to country music in his spare time.
