Erin Cash joined the JMU Sports Medicine Staff in 2011. She primarily serves as the head athletic trainer for the women’s basketball program as well as oversees the graduate assistant with cheerleading. She is also a preceptor within the JMU Athletic Training Education Program and is the Madison Athletic Training Students Association (MATSA) advisor.
Cash came to JMU from Florida State, where she was an Assistant Athletic Trainer in a variety of roles from 2009-2011. She was an approved clinical instructor, worked with the men’s lacrosse club team, football and women’s basketball teams, taught classes in the undergraduate program, worked in the doctor’s clinic and was the medical director for many NCAA tournaments.
Prior to FSU, Cash attended Virginia Tech for her Master’s in Health Promotions in 2007 and PhD in Curriculum and Instruction in 2009. During her time at Virginia Tech (2006-2009), she worked with the men’s and women’s swim/dive, women’s lacrosse and football teams.
Cash earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida in 2006 where she was the SATO President and was awarded the 2006 Outstanding Student Award in Athletic Training. She is nationally certified by the Board of Certification and is a licensed athletic trainer by the Virginia Board of Medicine. She is proficient in Graston Technique and Functional Movement Systems (FMS.)
Erin is a native of the Florida Keys and now resides in Harrisonburg.
