Kachine Alexander joined the coaching staff in July 2021.
Alexander comes to Harrisonburg after serving as an assistant coach at Florida Atlantic from 2016-19. Alexander made an immediate impact with the Owls: in just her second season, she helped the team finish seventh in Conference USA, the program's highest finish since joining the league in 2013.
Prior to her time with FAU, Alexander served in a similar role with North Dakota State from 2014-16. In her first year with the program, she helped the Bison improved from six wins in 2013-14 to 11 wins in 2014-15. Additionally, Alexander coached two Summit League All-Conference players including one Academic All-Conference student-athlete in her final season.
Alexander began her coaching career at Concordia-St. Paul in 2012. In the 2013-14 season, she helped guide the Golden Bears to an impressive 28-9 record, which allowed the program to make its first Elite Eight appearance. She played a crucial role in the team's success - as the leader of the defense, she saw the team go from the worst defense in the league to the best in just two seasons.
At the University of Iowa, Alexander was a two-time WBCA and Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention honoree and a two-time WBCA All-Region 6 selection. She was an All-Big Ten selection in three seasons while being a two-time Big Ten All-Defensive Team pick.
After receiving her bachelor's degree in interdepartmental studies in May of 2011, Alexander was drafted by the Minnesota Lynx in the third round. Following her first season, Alexander went on to play for the Flying Foxes in Vienna, Austria.
