Assistant coachLindsay Smith Edmonds joined the Dukes' staff in June 2009. She works with the post players and is the team's recruiting coordinator.
In her three seasons at JMU, the Dukes have won two Colonial Athletic Association championships, played in two NCAA Tournaments and advanced to the championship game of the Women's National Invitation Tournament. During her time with the Dukes the team has compiled a record of 81-23, a winning percentage of .779, and has averaged 27 wins a season.
Smith Edmonds came to JMU from Appalachian State, where she was an assistant coach for three years.
At Appalachian State, Smith Edmonds was the recruiting coordinator and was in charge of developing the team's guards.
Smith Edmonds also has coached both high school and AAU basketball. In 2005-06 she was an assistant coach at T. Wingate Andrews High School in High Point, N.C., and also coached the under-16 AAU elite Team Phoenix during that time.
A 2005 graduate of Appalachian State, Smith Edmonds was a four-year starter and 1,000-point career scorer for the Mountaineers. She ranks 14th among ASU's all-time scorers with 1,076 career points and holds the school record for career three-pointers (177).
She was a team co-captain in 2003-04 and 2004-05 and was the team's assist leader both of those seasons.
Smith Edmonds, a native of Winston-Salem, N.C., was an all-conference, all-area, all-region and All-Northwest honoree at Ledford High School. She was selected the conference Player of the Year as a senior.
Smith Edmonds holds a bachelor's degree in health promotions from Appalachian State. She is also a 2011 graduate of the NCAA Women's Coaches Academy.
She is married to Ulrick Edmonds, the JMU football team's recruiting coordinator and running backs coach.
