Former University of Indianapolis standoutÂ
Brooke Beegle has joined the James Madison women's golf program as an assistant coach for the 2018-19 season, as announced by Head CoachÂ
Tommy Baker on August 13, 2018.
Â
"Brooke's character and playing experiences epitomize the qualities I see for our program moving forward," Baker said. "She brings a championship culture, both in and out of the classroom, having been a national champion, All-American and honor roll student-athlete during her career. She is a natural leader who will prove to be a huge asset for us. We have a shared vision for the JMU program and I very much look forward to Brooke joining us."
Â
Beegle joins the Dukes after a standout collegiate golf career at the University of Indianapolis and Purdue. Beegle joined UIndy as a junior in 2014-15, immediately leading the Greyhounds to their first-ever national championship, finishing t-7th at the championships with a four-round total of 303 (+15).
Â
As a senior, Beegle led the Greyhounds back to the championships, where they earned runner-up honors, after a 2015-16 campaign that saw her take home Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year honors. She was also named All-East Region and All-America Honorable Mention by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.
Â
After earning her degree at UIndy in 2017, Beegle joined the staff at Butler University as an external operations assistant in the ticketing department.
Â
"I am very excited to get started with JMU Women's Golf," Beegle said. "I am looking forward to getting to work with Tommy and our student-athletes and I am very honored to have the opportunity to be part of the JMU community!"
Â
The Dukes will open their 2018-19 season in their home state, traveling to the William & Mary Invitational on Sept. 9-10 in Williamsburg, Va.
