FRISCO, Texas –
Grace Petzold and Klára Sionková were named Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars when the organization announced its recipients of the award on Monday, July 13.
Petzold played in 30 rounds and had a stroke average of 74.63 - the second-lowest on the team - in her first season at JMU in 2025-26. The native of Plymouth, Minn., had five top 25 placements and finished with 60 birdies, the third-most on the team. Along with her accomplishments on the course, she was named to the Dean's List, a JMU Athletic Director's Scholar Athlete, and CSC Academic All-District ® following the spring 2026 semester.
Sionková competed in 30 rounds as a freshman, securing five finishes inside the top 25 with a stroke average of 75.33. She finished with 79 birdies to set a JMU program record, as well as the eighth-most in single-season program history. Her best finish of the season was a tie for eighth at the Liz Murphey Collegiate on March 30. Along with earning a spot on the President's List in the fall, Sionková was also named a JMU Athletic Director's Scholar Athlete and was on the Dean's List following the spring semester.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are among the most stringent in college athletics and continue to recognize high-level academic achievement.
To be selected, a student-athlete must:
- Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
- Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
- Have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
