Emily Garrity joined the JMU coaching staff prior to the 2014 season after playing out a highly-successful collegiate career at North Carolina, graduating in 2013 following the Tar Heels' national championship run.
A two-time captain for North Carolina, Garrity rounded out her college career by being named a Synapse Sports All-American and was a member of the Tewaaraton Award Watch List (nation's top player). She was also chosen for the All-Atlantic Coast Conference and ACC All-Tournament teams during her senior campaign.
During her time in Chapel Hill, Garrity posted 72 goals and 46 assists for 118 career points. Additionally, she picked up 104 ground balls and 101 draw controls to go with 73 caused turnovers. Garrity was a two-time ACC All-Academic honoree and a member of the Rising Stars program of the Carolina Leadership Academy, which develops premier leaders in collegiate athletics.
On the coaching side, Garrity assisted with the UNC Elite Camp and Rising Stars Camp for four years in Chapel Hill. In 2011, she helped coordinate and organize schedules and drills for the Nike Lacrosse Camp and, in 2010, she coached with the Phantastix Lacrosse Club in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Garrity attended Strath Haven High School (2005-09) in Rutledge, Pennsylvania, where she set the national records for points (695) and assists (289).
