In his role as assistant director of athletics marketing, Michael Van De Voort oversees marketing efforts for JMU field hockey, lacrosse and track & field, as well as gameday operations for men’s and women’s basketball. He also manages the JMU Dukes Puppy Pound and the athletics marketing internship program.

Prior to joining JMU, Van De Voort served as the public address announcer and in-game media coordinator for the Joliet Slammers Minor League Baseball team for the 2015 season.

Van De Voort received his MBA in management in 2014 from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he was also a marketing and event management graduate assistant, managing marketing initiative and gameday operations for soccer, softball, tennis and basketball.

During his undergrad at Butler, he worked as an athletics marketing intern and president of the Butler Dawg Pound student section. He also served as promotions and video crew member for the Indianapolis Indians Minor League Baseball team and promotions intern for the Indiana Pacers during his time at Butler.

Van De Voort received his bachelor’s in electronic journalism from Butler in 2013. He also studied advertising and public relations at the University of New South Wales (Australia) in 2011.
