Christian Howe was promoted to associate director of athletics communications in April of 2024. He serves as the primary contact for baseball, men's and women's soccer and swim & dive.
He has been at JMU since 2020, arriving in February of that year as an assistant before elevating to the role of assistant director in August of 2021. During his time with the Dukes, he has worked with three conference championship winning programs and has helped promote three NCAA tournament runs. He has also helped with the operations of multiple conference championships that JMU has hosted across its sports.
Howe's first experience came from working in the UMBC athletic communications office from the spring of 2017 until he graduated in the fall of 2019. He first interned during the 2017 spring semester, working mostly with the baseball program as he traveled with the team to the 2017 America East Baseball Tournament in Lowell, Mass. and then to the Winston-Salem Regional in Winston-Salem, N.C. After the spring semester, he became a student worker for the duration of his college career, helping out with all operational duties in the communications office for all 15 sponsored sports. He also dipped into content creation, helping to create multiple posters, ticket badges and graphics to be used.
Howe is a native of Laurel, Md. and currently resides in Harrisonburg.
