WILLIAMSBURG, VA (October 1, 2005)— William and Mary senior outside hitter Mandy Mayo (Charlottesville, VA) recorded her seventh double double of the season, posting a match-high 14 kills and 11 digs as the Tribe volleyball team won its third-straight match with a 3-0 win over James Madison at William and Mary Hall this evening. W&M improves to 10-7, 5-2 in the CAA, while the Dukes fall to 10-5, 4-3 in the CAA.
Mayo headlined a Tribe offense that hit .267 for the match (47 kills, 15 errors on 120 total attacks), including a stellar .422 effort in game one. Mayo finished the match hitting .289, recording three errors on 38 total attacks. She also finished with a block solo and a block assist. Along with Mayo, senior Megan Hector (Bradenton, FL) tallied 12 kills. The Dukes were led by Ashley Copenhaver, who hit an outstanding .571, recording 10 kills with two errors on 14 total attacks. Kelsey McNamara added nine kills as the Dukes hit .237 for the match (47 kills, 19 errors on 118 total attacks). The College grabbed the early lead in the match behind its solid .422 attack in game one (21 kills, two errors on 45 total attacks) as Mayo logged six of her kills in the frame, and classmate Kate Woffindin (Allentown, PA) added five. James Madison was nearly as solid, hitting .341 (18 kills, four errors on 41 total attacks) as McNamara paced its offense with six kills.
