HARRISONBURG, Va., Jan. 26, 2006 – James Madison University football players Harry Dunn (Clinton, Md./Surrattsville) and Clint Kent (Macon, Ga./Westside) have signed contracts with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. They are scheduled to report to the team's rookie camp May 18.
Both Dunn and Kent were seniors on JMU's 2005 team and were members of the Dukes' 2004 NCAA Division I-AA national championship squad. Dunn played offensive tackle and Kent cornerback at JMU. Dunn was a fifth-year member of the JMU program and Kent a fourth-year player in 2005.
The 6-foot-7, 330-pound Dunn was a starter on an offensive line that helped JMU average 404.4 yards of total offense and 234.5 yards rushing in 2005. He was a top reserve and made one start in 2004 and started for the Dukes for most of the 2002 and 2003 seasons after sitting out 2001 as a freshman redshirt.
The 5-10, 190-pound Kent was JMU's most valuable player in 2005 and was a starter throughout his final three college seasons. He took part in 61 tackles and led JMU with four interceptions in 2005, and he tied the Dukes' all-time interceptions record with the 13th of his career during JMU's final 2005 game. His team-record-tying interception was returned for a touchdown, and he scored on an interception during the 2004 NCAA semifinals at William & Mary and had an interception that allowed the Dukes to seal their 2004 championship game victory over Montana.
Kent in 2005 was a third-team Division I-AA All-America by CollegeSportsReport.com, a second-team All-Northeast Region honoree by Football Gazette, a first-team All-Atlantic 10 Conference choice, and an honorable mention selection to the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) team.
Kent took part in 73 tackles and had five interceptions in 2004, was involved in 79 tackles and had four interceptions in 2003, and took part in nine tackles in 2002 as a true freshman.
JMU was 7-4 in 2005, 13-2 in 2004, 6-6 in 2003 and 5-7 in 2002.
