WILMINGTON, N.C., Oct. 20, 2006 - Senior Hanna Porterfield (Arlington, Va./Bishop O'Connell) notched a team-high 18 kills to lead James Madison University to a 3-1 win over the University of North Carolina Wilmington in a Colonial Athletic Association volleyball match on Friday.

JMU (15-6, 9-3 CAA) defeated UNCW (7-17, 0-12 CAA) by game scores of 30-17, 24-30, 30-18, and 30-22. It was the sixth consecutive win for the Dukes, the longest winning streak of the season. It was also the 11th win in the last 12 matches.

Porterfield hit .371 with 18 kills, just one shy of her career high, along with three digs and a team-high four blocks. Junior Allyson Halls (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy) had 12 kills, three digs, and three blocks. Sophomore Michelle Johnson (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos) hit .421 with 10 kills and two blocks. Sophomore setter Lauren Miles (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) tallied 51 assists while junior libero Jena Pierson (San Antonio, Texas/James Madison) added 25 digs to raise her season digs record to 502.

Liz Mitchell (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) led the UNCW attack with 10 kills. Jill Hoeck (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny/Indian Hills C.C.) had a double-double with 36 assists and 10 digs. Dorinda Petrisko (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./Westminster Academy) added 11 digs and three aces for the Seahawks.

JMU will finish its weekend road trip with a 2 p.m. match on Sunday at Georgia State.
