TOWSON, Md., Friday, Sept. 8 - Sophomore Ally Perko (Kirtland, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) recorded a double-double with 18 kills and 17 digs to lead Towson University to a 3-2 triumph over James Madison University in the Colonial Athletic Association volleyball opener for both teams at the Towson Center.

Towson (6-2, 1-0 CAA) won its fifth straight match and eighth straight over JMU (4-4, 0-1 CAA). The Tigers won by game scores of 26-30, 30-28, 30-25, 22-30, and 15-12.

Perko averaged four points per game with 18 kills and two service aces. Junior Kimberly Snider (Carrollton, Texas/Hebron) narrowly missed a triple-double with nine kills, 53 assists, 16 digs, two aces, and three blocks while hitting .375. Senior Christina Grempler (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) had 12 kills on a match high .455 attack percentage along with five blocks. Sophomore Alison Essink (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Southwest) had 25 digs.

Junior Allyson Halls (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy) had 16 kills, three aces, four blocks, and a team-high .382 attack percentage. Freshman Nicole Fenner (Duluth, Ga./Wesleyan) set a career-high and team-high with 17 kills while also notching six digs and five blocks. Sophomore Lauren Miles (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep) had 53 assists and 13 digs for a double-double. Senior Bayli Stillwell (Steamboat Springs, Colo./Steamboat Springs) had 12 kills, three assists, three aces, and six digs. Junior Jena Pierson (San Antonio, Texas/James Madison) tallied 28 digs.

JMU will continue CAA play at 1 p.m. Saturday at Delaware. The Blue Hens are 9-0 and off to the best start in school history after a 3-0 win over George Mason on Friday.
