MEN'S SOCCER LOSES 2-0 AT LEAGUE-LEADING OLD DOMINION

NORFLK, Va., Oct. 14, 2007 -- Old Dominion scored a goal in each half and shut out James Madison 2-0 in Colonial Athletic Association men's soccer Sunday afternoon.
The Monarchs improved to 7-4-1 overall and remained unbeaten in league play at 4-0-0. ODU, which won its fifth straight game, is tied with Drexel for first place in the CAA standings.
The ODU goals came late in each period.
Sophomore Ambane Emmanuel put the Monarchs up 1-0 with a goal off a pass from freshman T.J. Beaulieu with 2:37 left in the opening half. The play began as Beaulieu controlled the ball on the right side of the field. Emmanuel came from behind the ball and past the JMU defensive line as Beaulieu sent the pass through to him.
The second score came after junior Trevor Banks received the ball in the left corner and sent a short pass to sophomore Dylan Montambo. Montambo quickly flicked the ball to senior A.J. Kulp, who fired the shot into the lower right corner for the score.
Sophomore goalkeeper Evan Newton made four stops, including three diving saves, as he recorded his sixth shutout of the season.
In the 15th minute Newton was called for a yellow-card foul, and JMU was awarded a penalty kick. He made a diving save on a shot toward the left side by junior Kyle Morsink (San Jose, Costa Rica/Lincoln) and had two more diving saves late in the match.
