HARRISONBURG, Va., May 9, 2008 ? Freshman Alex Hill (Charlotte, N.C./Vance), senior Daniel Hargrave (Hurdle Mills, N.C./Orange), and freshman Cody Stanley (Clinton, N.C./Clinton) each homered and drove in three runs as UNC Wilmington defeated James Madison University 11-6 in the Colonial Athletic Association baseball series opener on Friday afternoon at Long Field/Mauck Stadium.

UNCW, ranked 29^th nationally by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America, upped its first-place lead in the CAA to three games by improving to 21-3-1 in the conference and 37-11-1 overall. JMU fell to 31-14 overall and 18-6 in the CAA despite outhitting the Seahawks 13-12.

The Dukes claimed an early 4-1 lead through three innings before UNCW struck for seven runs over the next three frames in outscoring the Dukes 10-2 in the final six innings. The teams combined for six home runs with five in the first four innings.

Junior Bradley Holt (Albemarle, N.C./Albemarle), making his first Friday start of the season, matched his season high with five earned runs allowed while improving to 8-1 on the year. He struck out seven in 6 2/3 innings while allowing a career-high 10 hits.

Sophomore Kyle Hoffman (Reading, Pa./Twin Valley) allowed six runs, five earned, in 4 1/3 innings to take his third straight loss and fall to 6-4. He allowed only four hits, two being home runs, but was hurt by free bases with five walks, three hit batters, and two wild pitches.

Hill, Hargrave, and Stanley each drove in three runs on two hits. Sophomore Rhett Miller (Cary, N.C./Athens Drive) went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI.

Redshirt sophomore Steven Caseres (New City, N.Y./St. Joseph's Regional) had his third multiple home run game of the season, both solo shots, and had three hits total. His home runs were both mammoth shots to right field in consecutive at bats in the second and third innings. With 17 home runs on the year, he moved into a tie for sixth on the season home run chart.
