HARRISONBURG, Va., Oct. 13, 2009 ? James Madison hit .260 and three players totaled at least nine kills in a 3-1 victory over Norfolk State in a non-conference volleyball match Tuesday evening in Sinclair Gymnasium.
JMU improved to 7-14 on the season after winning by set scores of 25-17, 25-13, 21-25, and 25-7. The win snapped a seven-match losing streak for the Dukes, the longest since 1997. NSU fell to 4-17 for the season.
The match was part of Side-Out Foundation's "Dig Pink" promotion, designed to draw attention to the fight against breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Both teams wore pink jerseys, the match was played with pink volleyballs, and all game personnel wore pink JMU Volleyball t-shirts. Fans can donate to JMU's fundraising efforts during the month of October at the Dig Pink website.

I thought our blocking really came on, I was happy with that. We haven't been blocking as many balls down for points. We had a lot of touches tonight, but we also blocked a lot of balls down for points.”
Junior Lindsay Callahan (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown) led JMU with 11 kills, .267 hitting, and five digs. Freshman Danielle Erb (Tampa, Fla./Plant) had nine kills and eight digs while sophomore Kelly Turner (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne Central) added nine kills on .222 hitting with six blocks. Freshman setter Megan Wiechmann (Sunland, Calif./Village Christian) had a solid all-around performance with 32 assists, six digs, and four blocks. Sophomore Morgan Maddox (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun Valley) saw her most extensive action with nine digs. Freshman Haley Jacobsen (Winchester, Va./Sherando) a
