HEMPSTEAD, N.Y., Oct. 18, 2009 ? Hofstra hit .330 as a team with a balanced offensive attack in a 3-0 victory over James Madison in a Colonial Athletic Association volleyball match Sunday afternoon.
HU improved to 8-16 overall and 3-4 in the CAA while JMU dropped to 7-16 overall and 0-7 in the league. The Pride won by game scores of 25-17, 25-16, and 25-11.
Monica Knight led Hofstra's balanced effort with 10 kills while Anissa Whitney added nine kills on a team-best .692 attack percentage with five blocks. Taylor Moore and Carolyn Jenkins added eight and seven kills. Chrissey Cruz tallied a double-double with 31 assists and 10 digs.
Freshman Danielle Erb (Tampa, Fla./Plant) led JMU with six kills and 10 digs. Junior Lindsay Callahan (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown) added seven kills and seven digs. Freshman Megan Wiechmann (Sunland, Calif./Village Christian) totaled 18 assists while redshirt freshman Natalie Abel (Washington, Pa./Trinity) contributed 11 digs.
JMU will begin a four-match home stand on Friday evening with a 7 p.m. match against first-place Delaware.
