Program: The JMU Marketing Internship/Practicum program is designed to locate student with an interest in Athletics marketing and properly place them in opportunities that will allow them to gain experience and learn about the field. The sports marketing field is being ever increasingly competitive with suitable candidate from entry-level positions having several years' worth of work experience. With different levels within the program, it will allow students of every age interest, and qualifications the opportunity to gain valuable experience and the opportunity to build their resume.
Fall/Spring Semester Internship
The undergraduate internship is a semester long internship that allows students to gain extensive experience in the athletics marketing field that meets the requirements of the academic internship course. To be filled by three students, the internship will run in each the Fall and Spring semesters. Student will each assist with a major JMU sports program and work closely with a marketing staff, giving the student a solid background in athletics marketing. Summer Semester Internship
The undergraduate internship is a summer long internship that allows students to gain extensive experience in the athletics marketing field that meets the requirements of the academic internship course. To be filled by two students, the internship will run on either a full-time or part-time basis during the summer based on the needs of the candidates. Student will be exposed and assist with the marketing and planning of the upcoming collegiate year. It is also a heavily based market and industry research position. Semester Practicum:
The semester practicum is available to a large pool of student that want to gain experience and exposure to working athletics events. The program will be filled with volunteers and can be used for course requirement in certain circumstances. These students will have the opportunity to work in a marketing capacity for JMU events year-round and put themselves in position for special consideration for the Undergraduate internship.
