HARRISONBURG, Va., Nov. 3, 2013 - James Madison scored first but gave up the next two goals in a 2-1 loss to visiting Georgia Southern in a non-conference men's soccer game Sunday afternoon.
Junior Josh Grant (Plymouth, England/Torpoint College) gave the Dukes (6-9-1) a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute, scoring his team-leading seventh goal of the season. Renaldo Garcia (Chaguanas, Trinidad/Torpoint College), one of seven players honored prior to the game for Senior Day, registered an assist on the play for his first career point at JMU.
It didn't take long for the Eagles (8-9-0) to respond as they tied it up less than three minutes later. Hunter Norton received a throughball in the box from Reed Norton and finished for his fifth goal of the season.
Jeremy Rector tallied the game-winner in the 56th minute for Georgia Southern. The unassisted goal was his third of the year.
Close losses have been the story of the season this year for the Dukes. Eight of their nine losses came by just one goal.
JMU will wrap up its season with a conference game at William & Mary on Wednesday. The game will be broadcast nationally on NSCAATV.com as the NSCAA Men's Soccer Game of the Week.
