Men's Soccer Team Awards Announced

HARRISONBURG, Va., May 2, 2013 -- The James Madison University men's soccer team awards for the 2012 season were announced at the team's recent year-end banquet.
Senior Paul Wyatt (Modbury, England/Ivybridge) received the team's most valuable offensive player award. He led JMU in in goals (9) and points (21) in 2012.
Senior Dale Robins-Bailey (Bollington, England/Tytherington) and freshman Bjarki Aðalsteinsson (Kópavogur, Iceland/Menntaskólinn í Kópavogi) shared the team's most valuable defensive player award. In 2012 the two anchored a JMU defense that recorded a 1.20 goals-against average.
Aðalsteinsson and freshman Tom Fouhy (Buckinghamshire, England/Dr. Challoner's) were selected the team's co-Rookies of the Year. Aðalsteinsson started 19 games for the Dukes and earned all-conference honors in 2012. Fouhy started 13 games and ranked third on the team in scoring with three goals and four assists.
The Justin Armitage Coaches Award was presented to redshirt junior Adam Bastidas (Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua). The honor, voted by the coaching staff, is named in memory of former JMU player Justin Armitage. Bastidas won the award for the second year in a row.
Senior Gene Daniels (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) received the Michael J. Frye Memorial Award, which honors players who represent the personal characteristics of former JMU player Mike Frye.
