Game Plan
- James Madison concluded the regular season Saturday afternoon with a pivotal CAA match-up against Hofstra at the JMU Convocation Center.
- The game will be televised on Comcast SportsNet (Mid-Atlantic, Bay Area), The Comcast Network (Philadelphia) and SportsNet New York. It can also be seen online at MadiZONE HD SportsNet, presented by the JMU Alumni Association. The game can also be heard on the JMU/nTelos Wireless Broadcast Network and on the local airwaves at WSVA AM 550 and 92.1 FM beginning at 3:30 p.m.
- Saturday's game is sponsored by University Outpost. The first 750 fans in attendance will receive a James Madison basketball bobblehead. It is also Duke Dog Reading Day and heavy traffic is expected.
Scouting Report
- JMU enters the game with an 18-12 overall record and 11-6 mark in the CAA (tied 3rd place) while Hofstra comes to town sporting a 19-11 record, with a 10-7 CAA mark (5th place). The Dukes are 11-7 at home this season while the Pride has compiled a 10-5 record in true road games, including 6-2 during CAA play.
- The Dukes can finish anywhere from third to fifth in the final CAA standings. Click here for the tie-breaking scenarios for all CAA teams on Saturday. The Pride can either finish fourth or fifth, which is solely dependent on the outcome of Saturday's game in Harrisonburg.
- This is the 23rd meeting all-time between JMU and Hofstra and the Pride owns a 14-8 series lead, including a 7-4 advantage in games played at the Convo. However, the Dukes have claimed the previous two at home vs. HU.
- Last time out for the Dukes, UNCW snapped JMU's five-game win streak, with a 74-54 win Wednesday night in Wilmington, N.C.
- The Seahawks opened the game on a 19-3 run and never looked back as Addison Spruill led their balanced attack with 18 points. UNCW outscored JMU 32-22 in the paint and limited the visitors to just 36.7 percent shooting.
- Ron Curry scored a game-high 23 points, tying his career high of five made 3-pointers in the defeat. Yohanny Dalembert had 11 points and nine rebounds while Dimitrije Cabarkapa added 10 points and a career-best seven boards.
- This season, the Dukes are a perfect 16-0 when leading with five minutes to play and are 16-1 when holding a higher shooting percentage. JMU is also 14-1 when winning the rebounding war, 10-2 when dishing out more assists and has compiled a 9-2 record in games decided by one or two possessions. It is also 11-1 when holding opponents to less than 70 points.
- Ron Curry leads the Dukes with 13.6 points per game, including the league's fourth-best 16.5 points per game in CAA play. He tops the league in CAA play in 3-point percentage (.438) and is fourth in assists (3.8).
- Curry has recorded 21 double-figure scoring games this season, including eight 20-point games and three 25-point outings, which includes his career-high 27 points the last time JMU played Hofstra up in Hempstead.
- Juan'ya Green is just ahead of Curry in the scoring department as Hofstra's leading weapon averages 17.5 points per game (16.9 in CAA play). He also leads the conference in assists (6.5) and ranks fourth in both steals (1.5) and free throw percentage (.837).
- Next up for JMU is the CAA Men's Basketball Championship, held March 6-9 at Baltimore's Royal Farms Arena. The Dukes will either play next Saturday in the 4/5 game vs. Hofstra at 2:30 p.m. or the 3/6 game vs. either Delaware or Drexel.
