RADFORD, Va. - The James Madison baseball team surrendered 17 runs in the first four innings en route to a 22-1 loss to Radford on Friday night in non-conference action at RU Baseball Stadium.

The Highlanders racked up 19 hits and took advantage of four JMU errors as they moved to 31-14 on the season. JMU fell to 16-26 with the loss, tallying just five hits in the loss.

Chad Carroll notched his third-consecutive multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 and driving in the Dukes' only run on the evening. Freshman center fielder

Radford jumped on top early, scoring a run in the bottom of the first and three in the second before exploding for seven runs in the third and six in the fourth to go up 17-0. After three scoreless innings, the Highlanders tacked on five more with their final at-bat in the bottom of the eighth.

The Dukes picked up their only run in the top of the eighth. Sophomore second baseman
Kyle McPherson drew a four-pitch, one-out walk before taking second base. Carroll immediately followed with JMU's only extra-base hit of the night, doubling to the left-field fence to bring McPherson home.

Right-hander Travis McQueen picked up the win for Radford after entering with one out in the fifth and throwing 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Starter Michael Boyle tossed 4 1/3 innings for the Highlanders, striking out four and allowing three hits.

Freshman left-hander
Eric Yankey took the loss, falling to 1-4 in 2 1/3 innings of work, while sophomore
Logan Corrigan threw three innings for the Dukes without yielding an earned run in just his second outing of the season.

The two teams will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, playing their second of three games at 4 p.m. before wrapping up their weekend series in Harrisonburg on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
