VILLANOVA, Pa. – The James Madison women's volleyball team closed out the Villanova Classic by defeating Siena 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-20) and then falling to host Villanova 3-1 (20-25, 22-25, 25-20, 29-31) following Friday's 3-0 win over Howard. The Dukes and the Wildcats both move to 7-3 on the season.
Junior
Janey Goodman was atop the leaderboards for the Dukes with a season-high 21 kills and a career-high 20 digs for her fourth double-double of the season. Freshman
Bryn Recker tallied 16 kills with a .375 hitting percentage on the night. Sophomore
Taylor Austin tallied 17 digs on the night.
The Dukes fought back to force a fourth set which went to extra points and ultimately finished 31-29 in favor of Wildcats. The loss to Villanova marks the first four set match of the season.
JMU defeated Siena in three sets in the second match of the Villanova Classic. Recker led the Dukes with 14 kills followed by Goodman with 12. Defensively, Austin completed 20 digs against the Saints.
The sweep over Siena marks the fifth three-set win on the season.

Next UpJames Madison returns to action Friday, Sept. 18 as they host the JMU Invitational. The Dukes will open the tournament against Georgetown at 7 p.m.on Friday, Sept. 18 before playing N.C. Central and Norfolk State on the second day of the tournament Saturday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
