SCOUTING THE TRIBE
- William & Mary has dropped two of its last four to fall to 14-6 (6-3 CAA) on the season, but remains tied with the Dukes for third place in the league after cruising to a 94-79 win at Delaware that saw W&M go 16-for-37 from the three-point line on Thursday evening in Newark.
- The Tribe has been a force at Kaplan Arena in 2015-16, entering Sunday's contest with a league-best 9-1 record on its home floor. W&M's only loss in Williamsburg came back on Dec. 31, when it fell to Towson, 76-69, in its CAA-opening contest.
- Junior guard Omar Prewitt has led a balanced William & Mary offense so far in 2015-16, averaging 16.7 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game. Prewitt has also scored 14 or more points in three of the Tribe's last four contests, while junior guard Daniel Dixon (13.7) and senior guard Terry Tarpey (10.9) are also averaging double-digits this season for W&M.
SERIES HISTORY
- This will be the 90th meeting between the two teams, marking JMU's second-longest rivalry in men's basketball, with only the 91 games against George Mason topping this all-time series.
- Home-court advantage is split exactly between the two teams, with both JMU and the Tribe owning a 23-15 record in their respective arenas, though the Tribe has swept the season series for two consecutive years.
- In the last matchup between the two squads, William & Mary handed the Dukes an 84-65 defeat at the JMU Convocation Center, despite a career-high 19 points from then-sophomore guard Jackson Kent.
LAST TIME OUT
- James Madison trimmed a late 15-point deficit to just three points in the final minutes, but the Dukes' comeback fell just short, as UNCW escaped the JMU Convocation Center with a 78-73 victory in CAA men's basketball action on Jan. 28.
- JMU, which fell to 16-6 (6-3 CAA) in its first loss since Jan. 7, shot just 7-for-24 (29.2%) from the field in the first half and 19-for-52 (36.5%) for the game as the Seahawks outrebounded the Dukes 50-35 and improved to 15-5 (7-2 CAA) to remain in a tie for first in the league.
- Senior guard Ron Curry set a new career scoring mark in the loss, racking up 28 points on 6-for-13 shooting, including 3-for-6 from behind the arc and a 13-for-16 performance at the free throw line. The effort marked Curry's 14th straight double-digit effort and his eighth game of at least 20 points this season.
DUKES ON TV
- Sunday evening's contest will mark JMU's third appearance on regional television this season, as the Dukes are slated to appear live on Comcast Sportsnet in multiple regions: Mid-Atlantic (CSN-MA), Philadelphia/Delaware (CSN-P), New York (SNY), California (CSN-CA) and Northwest (CSN-NW). The game will also be broadcast live on CAA.TV. All times are Eastern and stations are subject to change, so check your local listings.
