Dukes Fall to College of Charleston in Overtime

HARRISONBURG, Va. – An overtime rebound goal sunk James Madison men's soccer in a 2-1 loss to College of Charleston at Sentara Park on Saturday night.
JMU fell to 0-8-3 overall and 0-2-2 in Colonial Athletic Association play, while the Cougars improved to 3-5-1 and 1-1-1 in the CAA.
Freshman defender Brandon Clegg put the Dukes in front in the 17th minute with his first career goal. Freshman midfielder Tim Estermann swung a corner kick into the box, where sophomore defender Soheyl Alipour-Rafi headed the ball back across the goal for Clegg to smash a header past Cougars goalkeeper Kevin Shields.
College of Charleston's Nicolas Jeausseran won the game for the Cougars in the 96th minute, putting away the rebound after redshirt senior goalkeeper Kyle Morton saved Adan Noel's shot.
Nico Rittmeyer equalized for the Cougars in the 31st minute, dribbling around Morton on a breakaway and scoring on an empty net.
JMU held the possession advantage in the first half, outshooting the Cougars 9-4, but the momentum turned after halftime with the Cougars winning the shots battle 10-6 in the final two frames.

The Dukes are on the road for their next CAA contest, traveling to UNCW on Saturday, Oct. 8 for a 7 p.m. tilt with the Seahawks.
