MACON, Ga. - The James Madison women's golf team moved up a spot in Tuesday's final round, as the Dukes took home a seventh-place finish at the at the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship, hosted by Mercer at the par-72, 6,136-yard Idle Hour Country Club.
The Dukes closed the fall portion of their schedule with a round of 17-over 305 to wrap up the 12-team tournament with a score of 916, just eight strokes back of sixth-place Cincinnati.
Junior
Maddisen Cox continued to lead the Dukes on the final day of competition, firing her second consecutive round of 1-over 73 to finish in 10th place out of 69 competitors at 8-over 224 for the week. The effort marked her team-best third top-10 of the 2016-17 campaign.
Freshman
Lauren Comegys continued her solid play with a 4-over 76 that put her tied for 21st at 12-over 228, while sophomore
Katie Turk maintained her push up the leaderboard with a 4-over 76 of her own to wrap up the week in a tie for 34th at 17-over 233.
Freshman
Morgan Cox and junior
Laura Gomez-Ruiz each shot rounds of 8-over 80 to cap the JMU scoring competitors. Cox finished tied for 39th at 18-over 234, while Gomez-Ruiz finished at 20-over 236 in a tie for 47th.
Playing as an individual, junior
Gabrielle Weiss took home 66th with a score of 252 (86-80-86).

The Dukes have wrapped up their fall competition for the 2016-17 season, a stretch that saw them capture four top-10 finishes as a team. JMU will open its spring slate at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic, hosted by College of Charleston at the historic Kiawah Island Golf Resort from Feb. 26-28.
