TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A second-half surge was not enough for James Madison women's basketball as the Dukes fell 84-64 at No. 12/12 Florida State on Sunday afternoon.
FSU took a 48-25 lead into halftime courtesy of a 56.25-shooting percentage from the field. The Dukes turned the tables in the second half, shooting 44.8 percent over the last 20 minutes of play while limiting the Seminoles to 35.5-percent shooting. JMU outscored FSU 39-36 over the final two quarters.
Redshirt senior guard Precious Hall poured in a game-high 27 points while redshirt junior forward Amber Porterposted 12 points, her first double-digit scoring effort as a Duke.
JMU finished shooting 38.1 percent from the field and held the edge in second-chance points 14-10, despite FSU holding the rebounding advantage 39-35.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS Precious Hall used her fourth straight double-digit scoring effort to move into seventh place on JMU's career scoring chart. Having scored 1,613 career points, Hall moved past Holly Rilinger's mark of 1,607. She needs just four points to take over sixth place from Lesley Dickinson (1,616).
