JMU Earns First CAA Point in Scoreless Draw with Elon

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison men's soccer snapped a three-game losing streak, earning a 0-0 draw in double overtime with Elon at Sentara Park on Saturday night.
The tie was the first point in Colonial Athletic Association play for the Dukes, who are now 0-7-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the CAA. The Phoenix moved to 4-2-2 and 0-0-2.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Kyle Morton made six saves to earn his first shutout of the season.
The game was evenly matched, though JMU held a slight 16-14 advantage in shots, including 7-6 in shots on goal.
The 82nd minute saw a flurry of shots from the Dukes as they looked to get on the board. Freshman defender Niclas Mohr and redshirt senior forward Connor Coward each had shots saved before junior forward Drew Mahoney's shot was blocked and senior midfielder Callum Hill's shot sailed high.

The Dukes travel to Williamsburg, Va. to take on William & Mary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28. The Tribe also sit at 0-1-1 in CAA play.
