QUICK HITS

The Dukes won their season-opener against Bridgewater, 80-50 on Friday at the Convocation Center.
Junior Stuckey Mosley led all scorers with 22 points along with four boards, one assists and one steal. Senior Joey McLean and freshman Matt Lewis each added 14 points to open the season.
James Madison will have a new look to it in 2017-18, as the Dukes return seniors Joey McLean and Ramone Snowden, but welcome 11 newcomers who are yet to suit up for JMU.
Six freshman began their careers against Bridgewater--Darius Banks, Zach Jacobs, Greg Jones, Matt Lewis, Alex Schulz and Dwight Wilson--alongside a pair of junior college transfers in Antanee Pinkard and Develle Phillips and graduate transfer Cameron Smith.
The nine new arrivals joined junior Stuckey Mosley and sophomore Gerron Scissum, who each joined the Dukes last year while sitting out a season due to NCAA transfer rules.
Old Dominion opened its season on Friday evening with a 57-54 win over Towson in Norfolk that saw the Monarchs never trail in the second half.
Junior guard B.J. Stith led the way for ODU with 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while junior Ahmad Carver tallied 10 points and five boards.
The Monarchs were picked to finish fourth in a tough Conference USA in 2017-18.
