DAYTON, Ohio – James Madison women's basketball dropped an 82-54 decision at Dayton in the Dukes' final non-conference road game.

After trailing by as many as 19 in the first half, JMU (3-7) climbed back to within 10 off a 16-7 run on either side of halftime. The Flyers (6-3), however, answered with key 3-pointers and free throws to halt the Dukes' momentum.

Sophomore Kamiah Smallsmatched her career high with 22 points, her 10th consecutive game in double figures. Fellow sophomore Lexie Barrierjoined her in double figures with 11 points and added a career-best eight rebounds.
 HOW WE GOT HERE
Dayton shot 44.3 percent from the floor (27-61), including an opening 7-for-10 stretch, with six made 3-pointers, while JMU shot 25.7 percent (19-74) with three 3-pointers.
JMU made it to the line 24 times, but was only able to convert 13 attempts. Dayton saw the charity stripe 29 times with 22 makes.
After seven turnovers in the first quarter, JMU only turned the ball over six times over the next three quarters. Dayton, which had one turnover in the first quarter, had 14 the next 30 minutes.
Junior Aneah Younghad a season-high filled game with six points and six rebounds.
 HELPING HANDS
JMU had assists on 12 of its 19 made baskets, led by five from junior Logan Reynolds.
 OFF THE BLOCK
Redshirt sophomore Kayla Cooper-Williams finished the day with four blocks, pushing her career total to 85. She needs 14 to reach the top 10, which would surpass Lauren Jimenez' 98 career blocks.
 CONSISTENT ON THE FLOOR
Senior Hailee Barron appeared in her 111th consecutive game, now just two games away from the 11th longest streak in JMU history (currently 13th). She needs to appear in the next four games to crack the top 10.
 UP NEXT
The Dukes close out non-conference play on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. as they host Bryant at the Convo. Thursday's contest is "Take a Kid to the Game" day, as all fans under the age of 18 will receive free admission to the game.
