HARRISONBURG, Va. – A third-quarter surge propelled James Madison women's basketball (3-5) to a 58-47 over Liberty (3-5) on Wednesday evening at the JMU Convocation Center.

JMU opened the third quarter on a 15-2 run to push out to an 18-point advantage, a double-digit lead the Dukes would never relinquish.

For the first time this season, four Dukes scored in double figures, led by sophomore Kamiah Smalls' 14 points. She added 10 rebounds to tally her second double-double of the season. Redshirt sophomore Kayla Cooper-Williams joined her with 10 rebounds to tie for game-high honors in boards.

MIDDLE SURGE
The Dukes went on a 15-2 run to open the third quarter, part of an overall 20-3 run bridging the middle frames after leading by just one (25-24) with 1:35 until halftime. They pushed to an 18-point lead (45-27) with 4:34 left in the third quarter.

SCORING SWELL

Sophomore Kamiah Smalls scored in double figures for the eighth straight game, dropping in a game-high 14 points.
Sophomore Lexie Barrier tallied 12 points, her first double-figure scoring performance since Nov. 15 at No. 13 Tennessee.
Junior Logan Reynolds tied her career high with 11 points.
Redshirt sophomore Kelly Koshuta had 10 points, her fourth consecutive game in double figures and sixth overall this season.
The Dukes shot 44.0 percent from the floor, a team season-high.

ON THE BLOCK
Redshirt sophomore Kayla Cooper-Williams recorded a season-high five blocks on Wednesday night, pushing her career block total to 80. She is tied for 11th all-time with Mindy Childress ('79).

Redshirt sophomore Kelly Koshuta pulled down a career-high eight boards

CONSISTENT ON THE FLOOR
Senior Hailee Barron appeared in her 109th consecutive game, tying her for 13th longest streak in JMU history with Kirby Burkholder. She needs to appear in the next six games to crack the top 10.
