QUEENS, N.Y. – James Madison women's basketball (3-6) dropped an 81-64 contest at St. John's (6-2) on Saturday afternoon.

After four tied scores and three lead changes over the opening 12 minutes, St. John's used an 18-6 run to claim the lead for good. JMU trailed by as many as 21, but was able to close the gap to 14 with the final Dukes' basket of the day.

Three Dukes finished in double figures, led by sophomore Kamiah Smalls' 19 points. Redshirt sophomore Kelly Koshutaadded 14 points while sophomore Lexie Barrier scored 13 points.
 HOW WE GOT HERE
After being tied at 20-all early in the second quarter, St. John's went on an 18-6 run to claim the double-digit lead. Devon Merritt had the final four first-half points to make it an eight-point game (38-30) at the half.
SJU went 6-of-12 from 3-point range in the first half at the same time JMU went 2-for-15. The Red Storm finished with 10 made 3-pointers while the Dukes had three.
The Red Storm made it to the free throw line 29 times, converting them for 19 points. The Dukes made it to the line 14 times with nine conversions.
 BACK IN DOUBLE DIGITS Kamiah Smalls reached double figures for the ninth straight game, having reached the mark each game this season. Kelly Koshuta reached the mark for the seventh time in nine games, her fifth straight, while Lexie Barrier was in double figures for the fourth time this season, second consecutive game.
 CAREER MARKERS
Freshman Tori Harris had a career-best five points, accounting for five of the Dukes' first seven points in the fourth frame. She pulled down a personal-best three rebounds and saw a career-high 14 minutes of action.
Senior Hailee Barron tied her career high in steals, taking away three for the seventh time in her time as a Duke.
 ON THE BLOCK
Redshirt-sophomore Kayla Cooper-Williams moved into sole possession of 11th on the all-time blocks list (81) with her block in the fourth quarter. She needs 18 blocks to move into the top 10.
 CONSISTENT ON THE FLOOR
Senior Hailee Barron appeared in her 110th consecutive game, now in sole possession of the 13th longest streak in JMU history. She needs to appear in the next five games to crack the top 10.
