HARRISONBURG, Va. – A walk-off double by James Madison junior catcher Ryan Coale capped a sweep of Hofstra in a baseball doubleheader at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday.
The Dukes won their fifth game in a row to improve to 24-22 on the year and 7-13 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Pride fell to 13-34 overall and 6-14 in league play.
A pair of home runs powered the Dukes to a 5-1 in the first game of the day. JMU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning when junior third baseman Bradley McKay scored on a throwing error after stealing third base, before junior right fielder Adam Sisk hit a two-run homer to right.
Redshirt senior first baseman Brett Johnson extended the lead to 4-0 with his 11th home run of the year in the sixth. Junior shortstop Kyle McPherson then rounded out the scoring in the seventh, coming home on a wild pitch to make it 5-1 after Hofstra's Teddy Cillis had homered in the top of the frame.

Junior left-handed pitcher Colton Harlow (3-2) threw a gem on the mound in game one, tossing eight full innings on 125 pitches, striking out eight batters without a walk and allowing just one run on six hits.
Coale's walk-off double came in the 11th inning of the 4-3 win in game two. Senior designated hitter Ky Parrott walked to lead off the inning, then moved to second on a McKay sacrifice bunt before Coale smacked his double to left center.
Sisk hit his third home run in three games in the third inning, a three-run bomb to right field that put the Dukes up 3-1. Hofstra's Vinnie Costello hit a two-run homer in the fourth that tied the game at 3-3.
The Dukes got massive contributions from the bullpen to secure the win in game two. Junior right-hander Josh Silvestri threw four scoreless innings of relief, striking out three batters and allowing just two hits. Freshman right-hander Kevin Kelly (5-2) earned the win after closing out the game with two and two thirds innings of perfect relief.
QUOTING COACH IKENBERRY
"I was proud of the way our guys competed for 20 innings of baseball today. Colton Harlow had a strong start for us in the first game, and then our bullpen was electric in the second game. It was great to see Ryan Coale came up with a big at-bat for us at the end there. Now we have to continue to be tenacious to get a win tomorrow and send our seniors out with a bang."
UP NEXT
The Dukes close out the series against Hofstra on Sunday, May 14 with first pitch slated for 2 p.m. Before the game, JMU will honor Johnson, Parrott, Brandon Withers, Michael Evans, Josh Wyatt and Logan Quimuyog with a Senior Day ceremony.
