JMU Stumbles Against Hofstra on Senior Day

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Hofstra outslugged James Madison 10-8 behind four home runs in a Colonial Athletic Association baseball tilt at Eagle Field at Veterans Memorial Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Dukes fell to 24-23 overall and 7-14 in the CAA, while the Pride improved to 14-34 and 7-14 in league play.

JMU had five players record multi-hit games, including redshirt junior second baseman Josh Wyatt, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Junior left fielder Jack Hamner also homered and collected a pair of RBIs.

Freshman center fielder Fox Semones tied the game at 8-8 in the eighth inning when he scored on a wild pitch, but Hofstra's Tom Archer hit a two-run single in the top of the ninth to put the Pride up for good.

Chris Weiss (6-3) earned the win for Hofstra after throwing one and two thirds innings of scoreless relief. Sophomore Matt Marsili (1-5) took the loss for JMU despite striking out six batters in three innings.

SENIOR DAY
JMU honored its senior class of Michael Evans, Brett Johnson, Ky Parrott, Logan Quimuyog, Brandon Withers and Josh Wyatt before the game for their contributions to the program.

QUOTING COACH IKENBERRY
"Once they scored a three-spot, we couldn't stop them offensively. It was just one of those days where the ball was jumping to right field and they hit more home runs than us and pitched better than us at the end of the ball game. I felt like our guys were doing a pretty good job all day at bat, but we just couldn't get a good swing off late in the ball game."
