- No. 16 JMU survived and advanced through to the second round of the NCAA Championship, as it faces No. 4 Penn State Sunday with a trip to the quarters on the line.
- This is the 32nd meeting between the teams, with the Nittany Lions holding a 20-11 lead.
- Sunday's match-up is a rematch from the regular season, as PSU earned a 12-9 victory at home back on March 8.
- The Dukes improved to 8-13 all-time at the NCAA Championship with a 12-6 victory Friday over Louisville in the first round. It was JMU's first NCAA win since 2010.
